WaterSkier for Windows History

It was during the winter of 1987 that the first version of WaterSkier Tournament was written, using GWBasic. Since that time that one program has grown into a suite of programs now currently on version 4.2. The suite now includes 3 round programs for Slalom, Figures and Jump along with a system to allow multi-round multi-discipline events like 2 round slalom and jump events.

WaterSkier Software is now being dragged kicking and screaming into the Windows age, hence the latest arrival in the form of the WaterSkier for Windows suite. The user interface for these system is intended to follow the general rules for windows programs as closely as possible, making it easy to use and understand. The main window behaves in a similar manner to that of many other Windows programs, in that many other windows (called child windows) can be open within the main window (called the Parent window). This allows the user, for example, to open the print window and print the slalom results whilst still entering the Figures results.

WaterSkier for Windows (Multi)

WaterSkier for windows (Multi) is now the only version of the software that is available. The system incorporates multi-round multi-discipline functionality to allow any combination from full Slalom, Figures & Jump to three rounds of Slalom or one round of Slalom, one round of Figures and three rounds of Jump or any other combination of upto three rounds of Slalom & upto three rounds of Figures & upto three rounds of Jump. It has the latest League rules for Overall events included.

At the beginging of next year (2005) a new version wil be available that will be a 32bit version. The software has always been maintaied as a 16bit application to allow user/clubs to use old hardware/software to remove the requirement for expensive equipment to run the software. We are no longer aware of anyone still using operation systems prior to Windows95 and have therefore taken the desision to re-work the software to run only in a 32bit environment. This will allow the software to run faster on modern computers using any of the current operation systems (Win95, Win98, WinME, WinNT, Win2K, winXP), as well as allowing for long file names for the competition file and the export/log files.
The software will be beta tested during this year by a small number of Calculators to ensure that all of the funcionallity is working correctly before being released to all existing licenced users for the begining of next season.

Because of the change in development software, some of the missing funtionallity, that was very difficult to produce in the old development tools will now be much easier to write. Because of this, the next version will include the long awaited 2nd/3rd round jump start order options, along wint class start order selection, and display/export of start orders.
